A few weeks later, Daniel decided to believe in Jesus as his personal Savior and Master. He was now a new believer.
During the first two weeks, Daniel noticed some changes in himself. He smiled more. He felt less anxious. He was more willing to make friends. He could also sleep better at night.
One day, Daniel talked with his friend David.
“David, I don’t understand,” Daniel said. “Why am I changing? I still have problems, but I feel different inside.”
David smiled. “Maybe you are beginning to experience what Jesus talked about in John 15.”
“What did Jesus say?” Daniel asked.
David opened the Bible and read:
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” — John 15:4–5
Daniel asked, “What does it mean to remain in Jesus?”
David explained, “Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches. A branch must stay connected to the vine to receive life and grow. If it is cut off, it cannot produce fruit.”
“So remaining in Jesus means staying connected to Him?” Daniel asked.
“Yes. It means trusting Jesus, praying, listening to His words, and following Him every day. When we remain connected to Jesus, He produces good fruit in our lives.”
Daniel smiled. “So my changes may be the beginning of that fruit?”
“Yes,” David said. “You are still growing. Just keep remaining in Jesus.”
Daniel nodded. “I want to keep growing with Him.”
