Three days after Jesus died, some women went to His tomb. They found that the stone had been moved, and Jesus’ body was gone. An angel told them that Jesus had risen from the dead.
As they went to tell the others, Jesus appeared to them. Later, He also appeared to His disciples and showed them His wounds to prove He was alive. He spoke with them and gave them peace.
Christians celebrate this day as Easter Sunday. They believe Jesus rising from the dead shows that death is not the end. It gives them hope, new life, and the promise that God’s love is stronger than death.
Christians also believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection are not only about Him, but about all people. They believe His death was to take the place of humanity’s wrongdoings, and His resurrection shows a new beginning. Because of this, they believe anyone can receive forgiveness, have a restored relationship with God, and live with hope—both now and in the future.
