So the young man started his journey home to his father. While he was still far away, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and pity, the father ran to his son, hugged him tightly, and kissed him.
The son said, “Father, I have done wrong against God and against you. I am not worthy to be called your son.”
But the father called out to his servants, “Quick! Bring the best clothes and put them on him. Put a ring on his finger and shoes on his feet. Then bring the young cow we have been keeping for a special day. Let’s prepare a big meal and celebrate!
My son was lost, but now he is found. I thought he was gone forever, but he has come home.”
So they began to celebrate with joy.
The father’s heart was full of love, not anger. He welcomed his son, showing forgiveness and kindness that comes from a heart filled with compassion.
