There was a man who had two sons. One day, the younger son said, “Father, please give me my part of the family money.” So the father gave both sons their share.
Soon after, the younger son sold what he had and left home. He went to a faraway country. There, he spent all his money on things he wanted. After some time, all his money was gone. Then, there was not enough food in that land, and he became very hungry.
He found a man in that country and asked for work. The man sent him to feed the pigs. The young man was so hungry that he wanted to eat the food the pigs were eating. But no one gave him anything.
Then he began to think about his life. He said, “My father’s workers have more than enough food, but I am dying of hunger here. I will return to my father and say, ‘I have done wrong against God and against you. Please take me as one of your servants.’”
