The teacher, Jesus, went into the city of Jericho. There was a man named Zac. He collected taxes from people and became very rich. Many people did not like him, because tax collectors often took more money than was fair.
Zac wanted to see Jesus. But a big crowd was there, and Zac was a small man. He could not see. So he ran ahead and climbed a tree to watch Jesus pass by.
When Jesus came to the tree, he looked up and said, “Zac, come down quickly. I want to stay in your house today.” Zac came down at once and welcomed Jesus gladly.
The people were not happy. They said, “Jesus is staying with a man who has done bad things.”
Later, Zac stood up and said, “I will give half of my money to poor people. If I took too much from anyone, I will pay back four times as much.”
The teacher, Jesus, said, “Something good has come to this house today. I came to help people find a new way.”
