The servant with 2,000 coins came to the master. He said, “Master, you gave me 2,000 coins. I used them and earned 2,000 more.”

The master said, “Well done! You are a good and faithful servant. Because you used a small amount well, I will trust you with greater things. Come and share my happiness.”

Then the servant with 1,000 coins came. He said, “Master, I knew you are a hard man. You gather crops that you did not plant. I was afraid, so I hid your money in the ground. Here is your 1,000 coins.”

The master said, “You are a bad and lazy servant! If you knew that, then you should have put my money in the bank. At least I would get back my money with interest.”

So the master told the other servants, “Take the 1,000 coins from him and give them to the servant who has 10,000 coins. Everyone who uses what they have will get more. But those who do not use what they have will lose even what they own.”

Then the master said, “Throw this useless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be crying and pain.”
