The Son Who Came Home
A kind father had two sons. One day, the younger son said, “Father, give me my money now! I want to go far away.”
The father was sad but gave him the money. The son left home and spent all his money on fun things. Soon, he had nothing left.
Then, there was no food in the land. The son was very hungry. He got a job feeding pigs, but he had nothing to eat. He felt sad.
“Even my father’s workers have food,” he thought. “I will go home and say, ‘Father, I am sorry. Let me be your servant.’”
So, he walked home. But before he got there, his father saw him and ran to him. The father hugged him and was so happy!
The son said, “Father, I am so sorry.”
But the father said, “Bring him clean clothes! Let’s have a big feast! My son was lost, but now he is home!”
The older brother was not happy. “I stayed with you and worked hard, but you never gave me a party,” he said.
The father said, “My son, you are always with me. But your brother was lost and now he is found. That is why we celebrate!”
Moral: God loves us and is always ready to forgive.
