Every night, Sofia scrolls through social media before sleeping. She sees photos of classmates traveling, getting high grades, eating at nice restaurants, and smiling with large groups of friends.

At first, Sofia enjoys looking at the pictures. But slowly, she starts to feel unhappy. She thinks, “Everyone’s life is better than mine.”

One day, Sofia sees a classmate post about winning an award. Sofia smiles online and clicks “like,” but inside she feels discouraged. “I work hard too,” she thinks. “Why am I not successful like them?”

That week, Sofia becomes quieter. She stops enjoying her daily life because she keeps comparing herself to others.

Later, she meets a friend for coffee. As they talk honestly, Sofia is surprised to learn that her friend also feels stressed, lonely, and worried about the future. “People only post their best moments,” her friend says. “Social media is not the whole story.”

Sofia begins to understand something important. Comparing her real life to other people’s highlight reels only steals her joy. Instead of focusing on what she lacks, she starts learning to be thankful for her own journey, friendships, and growth.

She remembers a Bible verse: “Each one should test their own actions… without comparing themselves to someone else.”

Sometimes, peace begins when we stop comparing and start appreciating the life we already have.
