The story of Easter began with the Last Supper where Jesus and his disciples sat and ate dinner together.  During the supper, Jesus told His disciples that one of them would soon betray Him. During the meal, Jesus broke bread and shared wine with them. After the meal, Jesus washed each of His disciples’ feet.

After the meal, Jesus went to a garden to pray.  It was in this garden that one of His disciples who had taken a bribe of 30 pieces of silver told the soldiers that he would tell them who Jesus was when he gave Jesus a kiss. Then Jesus was taken away and brought before the governor.

Although the governor found nothing wrong with Jesus, the people wanted Jesus to be crucified.  So, Jesus was beaten and he was given 40 lashes on His back.  He had to wear a crown of thorns and He had to carry His own cross to the hill where He would be crucified. Jesus was then nailed on the cross between 2 thieves. As Jesus hung on the cross, the sky was completely dark for three hours. At the moment of his last breath, the earth shook, the temple curtain split from top to bottom… After that Jesus died and His body was laid in a tomb. Jesus was crucified on a Friday – now called Good Friday.

On the third day, 2 women went to the tomb and they saw that Jesus was not in the tomb any more.  Sitting on the rolled-away stone was an angel of the Lord who told them not to be afraid because Jesus had risen.  As the women left to tell the disciples, Jesus Christ met them and showed them his nail-pierced hands. Later Jesus appeared to His disciples who had gathered in a room, and talked with them.
